EPIC POEM

The epic poem is a long narrative composition in vers. The word "epic" derives from the Greek word "épos" that means "the poet oral composition". The epic poem is a part of poetry. The first examples of epic poem are the Iliad and the Odyssey of the Greek poet Homer. Then there are the Aeneid of the Latin poet Virgil, and the Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf. The epic poem is a recollection of a glorious past. It tells the deeds and the adventures of the heros. In deeds there are storic and fantastic elements. There are supernatural powers and characteristics. The characters of the epic poem are heros, kings and monsters, like dragons. The setting are forests and castles; and the language is formal and classic. The themes of the epic poem are deeds, funerals and struggles. The society described is aristicratic and military. In the epic poem there are: a destiny, an invocation to a muse, tales and speeches, an incipit a medias res, a divine intervetion in human affairs and the values of heros.

14th February: saint Valentine's day

This story is the legend of saint Valentine's festivity. Over 1000 years ago, at the Roman empire age, there was an emperor called Claudius. He wanted to conquer new lands and he needed of  lots of men for his army. He did a new law that said that people couldn't get married. Valentine was a priest and he started to marry people secretely. Claudius discovered the secret and put him in a prison. People were very sad and started to bring flowers and messages to the prison window. A day, a guard's daughter visited Valentine and so they became very good friends. But Claudius decided to kill him, because he didn't respect his law. On the 14th February, Valentine, before be killed, wrote a message for the girl, saying "from your Valentine". I think that it's a wonderful story, but very tragic. I really like this saint Valentine's legend.

Legend of the Rose of Reconciliation.
One day, Saint Valentine felt spend two young lovers who were fighting. He decided to go out to them holding a beautiful rose. Gave the rose to the engaged couple and begged to be reconciled with tightening the stem of the rose, being careful not to prick yourself and praying that the Lord will live forever maintained their love. Some time after the young couple came to him to get married.

Alcott

Alcott is a clothing brand that has been operating in the market since 1990. It produces clothing collections for men, women and children, ranging from jeans to accessories.The name "Alcott" is derived from "All Cotton". The history of Capri Srl, a family business licensee and distributor of apparel brand  Alcott, began in 1990. The founder and owner is Nunzio Colella. In 1990, the Capri  Srl opens its first flagship store in Italy and now reaches a total of 20 direct stores.Today, in Italy and abroad are more that 150 stores. Since 2006 he has started an internetional business development that has seen the opening af several stores in foreign markets such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Germany, Spain, Bahrain, Dubai, Jordan and India. I like very much this brand and expecially her t-shirts and sweaters, because they are comportable, nice and colourful. I also buy some sneakers of this brand. So I like Alcott's clothes.

Who feels shy?

Many teenagers feel shy today. Also many adults are shy. For example, John Wisley, aged 24, one of the people interviewed, said to be a bit shy. Shy people let others be the first to say hello and the first to smile. And the risk of this behaviour is that others may misinterpret this as snobbery or hostility. Shy children often have shy paernts. Many shy teenagers, especially girls, think they are not as good-looking as other people. For stopping being shy they must be the first to smile and learn to speak properly.

My school's name is "Liceo Scientifico Galileo Galilei". I attend the language course. My school has got many courses: school specilizing in scientific subjects, language school and pedagogic school. My school has got a gymnasium, two technology laboratories,a little  pitch, an auditorium and a video room. My school is big and nice.My class is on the second floor, and there is a big window with a balcony where we can see the view.

 My name is Giovanna and I'm 15 years old. I'm tall and slim. I've got long fair hair and brown eyes. I'm Italian and I live in Mondragone. I' m a student. I like reading love stories, short stories, adventure stories and comics. I like watching comedies, action films and detective sories. I like also drawing, singing, listening to music, playing cards and chess, and surfing the Internet.
